International Destinations: South Korea
In a recent Prevue article, FICP Education Committee member Barbara Scofidio shares three bucket list experiences in South Korea for incentive qualifiers. Experience the pristine rocky shoreline at Hilton Busan, visit Panmunjom and see where the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement was signed on a DMZ tour, and enter Seoul's highest tower, the Lotte World Tower, for city views.
Good for Business
According to a new report from Harvard Business Review and travel management company, Engencia, companies that spend more on travel reap more rewards, particularly in customer loyalty, employee satisfaction and market share. The report states, "Companies with a strong travel culture had double the rate of improvement in key areas such as customer loyalty and retention (50 percent versus 21 percent), market share (43 percent versus 22 percent), and employee satisfaction (35 percent versus 15 percent), compared to companies with a weak travel culture." The report also demonstrates a correlation between strong travel culture and increased profitability. Read more.

Travel Safety
At the 2018 FICP Annual Conference, Melissa Kreidie, Senior VP, iJet International, presented her breakout session, Travel Safe: Risk Management and Destination Planning. In the presentation, she shared best practices for risk management, which included performing a location and site assessment, designating a risk management and security point of contact, and reviewing emergency planning and preparation. Recent concern over the safety of travelers flying Boeing 737 Max series has grounded the aircraft for the time being. The Global Business Travel Association reports that out of 155 travel managers polled, 81% responded that they were very or somewhat concerned about their own safety on one of the flights. Just 3% said it's not likely that their travelers will change their plans to fly on a different plane. Learn more about the study.
