Chicago, March 30, 2023 — As a leading association of meetings and event professionals, Financial & Insurance Conference Professionals (FICP®) is renewing its year-round commitment today — on Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) — to support its community and the meetings and the events industry at large.
FICP unequivocally endorses the 2023 GMID theme of “Meetings Matter.” Meetings and events have a significant impact on the culture and success of organizations across industries, and, importantly for FICP, the financial services and insurance (F&I) industry continues to be the most influential vertical in the meetings and events space.
The strength and influence of the F&I meetings and events industry was reaffirmed through the 2022 Incentive Travel Index (ITI), which FICP supported alongside the Incentive Research Foundation and SITE Foundation.
Out of all 19 industry verticals participating in the 2022 ITI study, Finance & Insurance was one of only two that forecasted positive growth in meetings and events in comparison to 2019 — the other positive-growth sector being information and communications technology — while also having the highest event revenue per capita. Further, 81% of F&I meetings professionals shared that incentive travel is gaining strategic importance in their organizations, with more than two-thirds noting that F&I meetings professionals today increasingly have an important “seat at the table.”
Committed to the growth, innovation and impact of meetings and events, FICP supports its 1,200+ F&I meeting professionals and hospitality partners through year-round education, inspirational in-person events and industry collaborations.
FICP has been an active participant in and supporter of a variety of industry organizations over the past several decades, including the U.S. Travel Association, Meetings Mean Business Coalition and the Events Industry Council, to advance the goals and priorities of its community and the industry at large.
“Bringing people together, especially in person, has a significant impact on culture, and from the perspective of incentive travel, directly supports revenue-driving activities. FICP’s meetings professionals have a critical role in advancing their organizations’ strategic priorities and supporting revenue growth,” said FICP Executive Director Steve Bova, CAE. “GMID is an important celebration of the meetings and events industry, and FICP is proud to promote the message that Meetings Matter — today and all year round.”
Meetings matter in FICP, and a core focus of FICP is the production of best-in-class in-person events, including the:
- Education Forum (June 27-29, 2023, Omni Amelia Island Resort, Fernandina Beach, Florida),
- Canadian Seminar (August 14, 2023, Park Hyatt Toronto, Toronto, Canada),
- Annual Conference (November 12-15, 2023, JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort, Marco Island, Florida) and
