We’re Half Way There With ITI – and Need You!
Do you have 15 minutes today to make a direct impact on the business events industry's most authoritative study of the global incentive travel market?
The Incentive Travel Index survey was significantly streamlined this year to make it as easy as possible and quick to complete (we promise – no calculators necessary!). For meetings professionals, it should be no more than 15 minutes and even quicker for hospitality partners.
Whether on a bus, train or your couch at home, we’re looking for each member and hospitality partner to complete the Incentive Travel Index (ITI) survey over the next week. We’re almost half way to our goal, and we need you to take us across the finish line. Will you help us as part of Team FICP?

The Education Forum Bloomed in Pasadena
With more than 120 attendees, 20+ speakers, 13 hours of scheduled networking time and 2.5 days of critical relationship-building, the 2022 FICP Education Forum was indeed a success.
Attendees heard from Dr. Greg Wells about how we need to slow down in order to speed up – and incorporate “forest bathing” in our lives. The Industry Panel led by moderator Gail Rutkowski shared the current state of logistics and how the logjam will impact global economies and the meetings and events industry over the next year. Our closing keynote, Shabnam Mogharabi, dared us to directly reach out to people we are grateful for in our lives and share that gratitude directly, offline – as one way to truly harness the power of joy. It was with joy that attendees crafted 40 beautiful vases of silk flowers during the Launch With a Cause to be donated to a local senior assisted living community.
And if that wasn’t enough, attendees had two incredible evening networking events to foster deeper connections: first at The Langham Huntington for a SoCal, Coachella-inspired evening under the stars, followed by a lively, deconstructed Hollywood experience at the historic – and active – Warner Bros. Studio at Brownstone Street.
Thank you to all of our sponsors, speakers and attendees for making this event unforgettable! We look forward to reconvening the Education Forum at the Omni Amelia Island Resort in Fernandina Beach, Florida next June!
Partnering Through the Comeback: Download the Free Report!
Earlier this year, the FICP community came together for an FICP Chats session: “Partnering Through the Comeback.” In this discussion, there were a number of important questions raised about the state of meetings and events as well as critical information and background shared about our current state and where we expect the industry to go.
To help answer some of these questions, FICP developed the report, "Partnering Through the Comeback," in which FICP’s hospitality partner community shares talking points across six key questions to help meetings professionals educate themselves and their stakeholders as we steer through the next several months. Read the summary, and download the report to learn more.
Congratulations to This New CMP
FICP would like to recognize the following member for recently earning the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Events Industry Council (EIC). The CMP program was launched in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession and advance uniform standards of practice. Abbe joins nearly one-third of FICP members who have achieved this designation. Congratulations!

Strategic Partner Profiles
Lori James, DMCP, President & Owner, AZA Events, Inc.
"Over the past 18 years, it has been such a rewarding experience and fulling experience to be aligned with one of the premier organizations such as FICP as a strategic partner.
I reflect on my career for the past 30-plus years on the success I have been able to achieve as a business owner. It is associations such as FICP that have afforded me such growth personally and professionally providing impactful education, networking opportunities and cannot even put a price tag on the relationships made with the members and hospitality partners that I call my friends. We all learn from one another through the experiences we have had attending annual meetings, educational forums, and/or symposiums.
I cannot encourage hospitality partners to get involved and volunteer. One of the most gratifying experiences I have ever had in my life is being on the Hospitality Partners Advisory Committee, which afforded me to engage with my peers and Board Members to have an impact on the present and future of FICP.
Every day I am grateful for being involved in FICP.”
San Diego Event at the Hotel Del Coronado
This intimate dinner on the beach of the Hotel del Coronado was inspired by Autumn in this seaside destination, Coronado Beach. The leaves may not fall to the ground, but we still enjoy the crackle of the fire and warm tones of saffron, nutmeg, and citrine. The stunning table “trees” were adorned with greenery and chandeliers, providing depth to our table landscape.
Jennifer Attersall, Director, Incentive Travel, Destination Canada
"Destination Canada Business Events is thrilled to be a strategic partner of FICP for over 10 years. This partnership allows us to stay up to date on the latest news and trends in the industry — while also providing opportunities to share our own stories of the diverse destinations for meeting and incentive experiences in Canada. Beyond that, a range of events throughout the year allows us to build meaningful connections with a community of meetings professionals in the financial services and insurance industry."
From coast-to-coast, Canada delivers unforgettable incentive rewards with meaning. Whether you want to honour your peak performers in one of Canada’s diverse, cosmopolitan cities, in a luxurious mountain spa resort or in one of the country’s many alluring, off-the-beaten-path destinations, there’s a Canadian incentive experience for your team.
Dean Altvater, Global Sales Director, PRA
"FICP membership for me has been so rewarding. Having been in the industry for over 30 years, I found myself attending FICP as a “first timer” just 5 years ago. The warm welcome I received from our Meeting Professional Partners and the wiliness of our Hospitality Partners to make introductions was so appreciated. The Network has provided untold opportunities for me to connect with customers and new industry peers. The knowledge share is tremendous, and I feel that I have found a new group of “trusted advisors” within the FICP community. I hope to become more involved as I continue my membership."
