Did you Know?
Fall – the season of "pumpkin spice and everything nice."
Did you know that pumpkin spice isn’t actually pumpkin? You might think you love the taste of pumpkin but actually, you just love the way you think pumpkin tastes! Pumpkins are a part of the squash family and the taste we think we know and love is actually just a mix of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, dry ginger, and cloves – aka nothing to do with the flavor of squash.
There are more fun facts where that came from! As you gather with your family this Thanksgiving, keep them saying “oh my gourd!” with more Thanksgiving trivia.

Tune Into the Latest FICP Anytime Podcast: Best Practices to Minimize Event Disruptions in a Virtual World
The last several months have been very interesting for all of us. In today’s virtual world, we are fortunate that people are forgiving and accustomed to hearing a dog bark or seeing a child walk by – the line between work and home has naturally become blurred. But through it all, it is admirable how we as a community have pivoted to virtual events and it is incredible what we have learned and continue to learn.
In this podcast, host Jennifer Squeglia, CMP, a member of the FICP Board of Directors, is joined by two professionals who are great talents in the events industry. They will share their wisdom and best practices as we evolve in this new events environment. Panelists include:
· Karin Ponte, CMP, Senior Meeting Planner, Liberty Mutual
· Beth Daniel, DMCP, CIS, Managing Director, PRA Palm Springs
FICP Anytime podcasts are part of the FICP Anytime suite of on-demand, virtual education resources available to meetings professional members and hospitality partners. Learn more and access FICP Anytime podcasts here.
Congratulations to these New CMPs
FICP would like to recognize the following members for earning the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in October from the Events Industry Council (EIC). The CMP program was launched in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession and advance uniform standards of practice. These individuals join nearly one-third of FICP members who have achieved this designation. Congratulations!
