Did You Know?
In this edition of NewsNet, we're welcoming all things Halloween – candy corn, jack-o-lanterns, and costumes! Did you know that Halloween originates from the Pagan holiday of Samhain? The name 'Halloween' means 'Saints Eve', as the following day, November 1, is All Saints' Day. It's for this reason that the tradition of dressing up stems from children wearing the costumes of their favorite saint. In the mid-1900s, children began dressing in scarier costumes to surprise unsuspecting neighbors. Today, adults and children alike wear their favorite movie character, villain, or horror icon in the same vein of the past. How will you celebrate Halloween? Check out this article to learn more fun fact's about fall's favorite holiday.
